This is a very serious time we are all going through. If we are lucky enough to find that our biggest problem is extra time, what good use can we put toward the extra time on our hands? Here is what Platinum Hobo has been up to with the extra time, besides sewing and trying to acclimate to the new manufacturing reality within the United States.
Yoga and Exercise, one has always got to increase flexibility! Daily, sometimes multiple times a day I roll out my yoga mat, even on work days. Personally I am working toward doing side splits solidly, maybe front splits. On the way, I strengthened a shoulder that had an aggravated old Army injury and lost some weight. Yoga is not just for relaxing and stretching you can tone and strengthen, too. It just depends on the poses you do and your consistency.
Gardening, the Platinum Hobo has a green thumb for the most part but usually not a lot of time. When lock down hit in mid-March, I decided to elevate my raised garden to a Victory Garden of sorts, just in case. I grabbed some extra seeds (more so than the pseudo prepper in me usually does ever year) and got ready. Now four months later I have some corn, cucumbers, sweet peas, and more coming to harvest. You may not want a Victory Garden, how about planting some lovely flowers to boost your mood, there’s still time! There are discounts at a lot of places due to holidays and also having a lot of sickly plants due to lower sales. Nurse something back to life. I purchased some roses, azaleas and some other pink perennial flowers, which are all doing well now.
Next there is Decluttering, it is not a coincidence that the Hobo started a clothing line. I love fashion! I have a huge collection, with maybe a bit too many pieces remaining from the past. Clothes that are worn out and tired, that won’t ever fit again, and that never fit to begin with. Now has been the time for me to sort and let go of, sell, or donate them. Mail that has piled up around that house has been ripped up and tossed. Furniture better arranged in living spaces. It’s not perfect, but it is a work in progress.
DIY projects! All that stuff that you were getting around to is waiting for you, and the weather is good. Do you have a squeaky door, a broken fence plank, furniture to refurbish, or printer waiting to be set up? Now is the time, while you have time! You can even just, get back in touch with your artistic side and paint a canvas, or widdle some wood. Whatever! How about cooking or baking? I have been having fun with that! And it may not be the best (it’s a working progress) but I finally put a gate on my fence. What projects do you want to do?
In conclusion, these suggestions are to get you going. They are to hopefully lift your spirits. It may seem trivial but keeping yourself busy and productive can be a positive thing for your state of mind. If your home is looking better, you are feeling better.
